The ANU College of Law and the ANU Law Students’ Society will take down the LSS Past Exam Database by the end of the year. From this week, the LSS will cease to update the database.
Before the change, the database provided students with previous students’ answers for past exams.
This decision comes after “consultation with the with both the LSS Committee and the wider ANU law student body.”
According to the LSS, the decision was reached due to concerns regarding academic integrity, given the compromising opportunities for plagiarism that the resources on the database provided. The law student body also stated concerns regarding the veracity of information, given that the law changes so often.
Instead, all law course convenors are required, at the start of semester, to outline the steps they will be taking to prepare students for exams.
The LSS will also be taking steps to provide students with more resources to prepare for exams.
In some ways they have already been preparing for the change: they have provided problem question solving workshops held by convenors of mandatory law courses. These were recorded and uploaded to Wattle to maximise accessibility.
Woroni understands that the ANU College of Law and the LSS are due to have a meeting in the coming weeks to discuss updates on the plan.
