Woroni is proud to present Edition 2 2020: The Sex Edition!
We conceived this theme at the beginning of the semester when Covid-19 was but a distant murmur.
Over our 70 years in publication, Woroni has returned to the concept of a sex edition many times, and we were hoping to bring some of that fun, cheeky energy back to Woroni.
We are living in a very different time now, and our next edition will reflect this. For now, we hope that you enjoy some light-hearted escapism as Woroni explores all things sex.
Comments Off on Want To Write For Edition 2? Check Out These Prompts!
Woroni is looking for YOU to write for our second edition of the magazine! You can write about pretty much anything, but here are some prompts to get your creative juices flowing (hint: the theme of this edition will be SEX!). First drafts are now due next Tuesday (25/2).
International:
What is considered ‘appropriate’ when it comes to sex? How does it differ between cultures?
Are standards of sexual attractiveness different in different cultures? Do you think we can all be sexy?
Talk about STIs – why is there a stigma surrounding it when it happens to so many people?
Reviews:
Parasite
Tame Impala’s new album
Literally anything else!
Arts:
How can sex and bodies be used as protest? Think the #freethenipple, sex strikes etc. Do they work?
How do you feel when you see your body naked? Are you liberated, or embarrassed, and why is this?
How has the tv show Sex Education brought sexual wisdom to a mainstream audience?
Talk about a sexual experience that has had a lasting impact on you, positive or negative. What was it about this experience that made it so memorable?
Multilingual (for foreign language speakers):
Talk about sex and social media! Think about sexting, online dating etc. and the impacts they’ve had on you.
Talk about the presence of sex in the films you’ve watched and the music you’ve listened to! Who are the people who engage in this, and does it matter?
How has your mental health affected your sex life? (can be anonymous)
Creative:
Poetry
Fiction
Photography
Painting and drawing
Scripts
Satire
Science
Talk about fat-shaming! How can we have productive discussions about health without implying blame?
Apparently, giraffes express sexual attraction through drinking each other’s pee! What are some examples of animal sexual practices that put humans to shame?
Are ageing and death as inevitable as we thought? Are they even preventable?
Turns out, some people don’t have an inner monologue! Do you have one? How does having a rich inner life or the lack thereof impact on your life?
Have you ever had imposter syndrome in a sexual relationship? Why was this?
According to several studies, our generation is having a lot less sex than previous generations. Why do you think this is? Why are these studies so important?
How do you really feel about your body? Tell us openly and honestly (and anonymously, if you like).
Business and Economics
Porn is a multimillion dollar industry! Why is porn so popular, and why, despite its popularity, is it still stigmatised?
Talk about sex work! Is sex work inherently oppressive? Should we legalise it?
Do you own any sex toys? Talk about them! Why are they important to you, and why don’t people really talk about them?
Give an overview of online dating. Talk about some of the various websites, how popular they are and what purposes they serve.

Woroni is pleased to announce the incoming members of the board for 2020. Nicholas Richardson is our new Managing Editor, and Isobel Lindsay-Geyer will be returning as Radio Editor. Grace Sixsmith will be joining the board as News Editor. All three positions were elected unopposed.
Have a read of the bios below to learn about the new team!
Managing Editor: Nick Richardson
Next semester will be my fourth at Woroni. During my time at Woroni, I have developed a strong affinity for the organisation and its members. The Managing Editor position allows me to contribute to an organisation that I am passionate about in a meaningful way. Additionally, through the Managing Editor role, I hope to gain invaluable experience and work alongside an incredible group of talented people.
News Editor: Grace Sixsmith
Student media is the most important tool for students to be kept informed on key issues within the ANU community. Frontline reporting is integral to keeping the university and student bodies accountable, ensuring they continue to serve ANU students at a high standard and meet their needs. This is why I am nominating to be News Editor for 2020, so I can help continue the amazing work that Woroni does in keeping students informed.
Since February, I have been a part of the Woroni News Team. I have written over 20 articles in this time, as well as being promoted to Senior News Reporter at the start of Semester 2 and working with the current News Editor to source stories and edit articles.
In 2020, I hope to continue the work that has been done this year, including interviews and increasing coverage of events across the wider ANU outside of the stereotypical coverage of student politics. The structure of two senior news reporters has worked well, and I plan to continue to develop these roles to ensure that they are working effectively to help the News Team function successfully.
Radio Editor: Isobel Lindsay-Geyer
I would love to:
Continue creating radio platform which is accessible and has welcoming culture which focusses on inclusivity, creativity and passion.
Give people opportunities that otherwise would not have
Push to continue the rewarding experience that I have had at Woroni so far and most importantly share this with others. I believe I have the requisite skills to do this.
I think that I would not be the same person if I had not been a part of Woroni and not have been exposed to the opportunities and creativity that has come with being in the radio team. I am really passionate about passing on this experience and empowering others to be creative under an effective and well-run Woroni radio platform.
